Striker Paul Hayes has left Brentford after his contract at Griffin Park was terminated.
The 30-year-old, who joined the Bees last August, has only made one appearance for the club this season, in the League Cup win over Dagenham in August.
He was sent on loan to League Two club Plymouth Argyle, failing to score in seven appearances, and has not featured in the Brentford squad since his return last month.
Brentford have agreed a settlement with Hayes on the 18 months left on his deal and he will become a free agent ahead of the January transfer window.
Bees sporting director Mark Warbuton said: “We are pleased we have been able to reach an agreement with Paul. He can now get on with his career.
“We would like to wish Paul all the best for the future and thank him for his efforts during his time at Brentford.”
Hayes netted six goals in 32 games last season after signing from Charlton, playing the last eight minutes of the League One play-off final defeat to Yeovil.
