Spencer eyeing Bees starting place
On-loan striker James Spencer is hungry for more action after making his Brentford debut in the dramatic late win over Coventry City.
The youngster came on as a substitute in Tuesday’s 2-1 victory and could be in the frame for a starting place against Hartlepool on Saturday.
“I was keen to get on at 1-1. I kept warming up, trying to catch the gaffer’s eye a bit and I’m grateful to him for putting me on,” he said.
“We created plenty of chances. I didn’t quite get one myself but I set Harry Forrester up for him to win the penalty so I was pleased with that.
“Hopefully I will get a start, but it’s up to the manager – if he decides to start me I’ll be ready.
“I want to score as many goals as I can here. The team plays brilliant football and I know I’m going to get lots of chances.”
