Smith hits out at Bees fans for jeering Maupay
Dean Smith criticised Brentford fans for turning on Neal Maupay during the defeat against Norwich.
Maupay, who was ill earlier this week, struggled before being taken off in the second half, with many of the home supporters showing their frustration with the forward.
That did not go down well with Bees boss Smith, who said: “The biggest disappointment was the (lack of) support Neal Maupay got.
“He was on his sick bed yesterday and gave it what he could. I felt the supporters could have been a lot more supportive of him.
“He’s a good young player and what he needed was a bit of support.”
Dean felt his team were unlucky to lose at Griffin Park, where James Maddison’s cracking strike gave the Canaries a 1-0 win.
He said: “I’m disappointed and a little bit frustrated – and probably feel a bit aggrieved. I think the best team got beat today.
“The difference was that their lad stuck in a 25-yarder. I feel Norwich will probably go away feeling a bit fortunate.”
Smith also revealed that Brentford striker Lasse Vibe missed the game because he is discussing a move to another club.

Anyone who thinks slagging off players during a game are idiots
We have a reasonable chance of making the playoffs so the team need 100% vocal support until the final whistle in the last game
Come on think about it!

Criticising his paymasters (the fans). Not a good idea. If Maupay was ill why play him at all? Is Smith saying that he couldn’t field an eleven without Maupay?
Smith also stated that the best team lost. Nonsense. Our own frailties cost us the game.

Dean is right but he’s not having a go he’s just stating facts if we don’t have any confidence in Nial and don’t encourage him he will fail and so will we rember where we were and where we aspire to be if you are a winger go to the flea pit in white city you’ll be at home there
