Saville injury fears allayed after Bees win
Brentford assistant manager Alan Kernaghan quickly allayed fears that George Saville could be set for a spell on the sidelines following the 5-3 victory against AFC Wimbledon.
Saville went off midway through the first half of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy southern section first-round clash at Griffin Park, but Kernaghan said he was withdrawn as a precaution.
The on-loan Chelsea midfielder looks likely to be in contention for Saturday’s match against Bradford.
“He picked up a knock and it [the substitution] was with Saturday in mind,” said Kernaghan.
Jake Reeves, who replaced Saville, set up Luke Norris for one of Brentford’s goals.
Farid El Alagui scored twice and on-loan Cardiff City defender Ben Nugent also found the net.
