Brentford manager Uwe Rosler is convinced the arrival of Spanish full-back Javi Venta has been the catalyst for Shaleum Logan’s blistering start to the campaign.
Logan has produced two fine performances in the opening league fixtures and scored in the first game against Port Vale.
Venta, 37, is an experienced defender who signed on a free transfer from Villareal and Rosler believes the competition for Logan’s place has given the former Manchester City trainee a boost.
“Javi Venta’s arrival is definitely the reason behind Shaleum’s improvement,” said Rosler.
“It shows what a good player we have got in Javi – after both games Javi has been so positive in the dressing room.
“He is so happy for the team and he is so happy with Shaleum’s performances.
“I felt Shaleum was excellent again against Sheffield United. He has had two very good performances.
“But Javi is pushing him and Shaleum knows Javi is waiting in his wings and that gives him the extra boost to perform like he has.
“It’s a long season. Javi is pushing and I’m sure will get games.”
