Brentford manager Uwe Rosler hailed Will Grigg after the striker’s brace against Sheffield United.
Grigg, a summer signing from Walsall, scored his first goals for his new club as they ran out 3-1 winners at Griffin Park.
He had a late penalty saved but did more than enough to impress his boss.
Rosler said: “Will is a very intelligent player. His movement is intelligent and that is what has attracted me to him.
“It is very hard for a central striker when he is playing on his own, often against two big players.
“But he never stopped working, he is very fit, and he got his rewards.
“He took his two goals very well and should have had a hat-trick but the keeper made a superb save.”
Grigg played as centre-forward in Rosler’s 4-3-3 system and the Bees boss also had praise for wide-men Clayton Donaldson and Conor McAleny for their performances.
“I am very pleased that Clayton has shown on the [right] side that he can now be a threat,” he said.
“He was very active, occupied their left-back and caused them lots of problems.
“Conor is normally a centre-forward but he is playing on the wing and doing very well.”
