Delighted boss Uwe Rosler hailed hat-trick hero Gary Alexander after Brentford’s 5-2 thrashing of Wycombe.
Alexander put the Chairboys to the sword with clinical display of finishing, while strike partner Clayton Donaldson also earned praise from his manager.
Rosler said: “It is a privilege to work with Gary in training and on matchdays – he was great today and is crucial in the changing room.
“And Clayton had a good game. I’m very happy with his work rate and what he does for the team. He can really trouble defences.”
Brentford’s fine win reignited their play-off challenge and was the perfect response to last weekend’s controversial defeat at Huddersfield.
“It was good for the players, and the supporters who saw a great game with lots of goals,” Rosler declared.
“Last week took a long time to get over. It was the worst I’ve felt in eight years as a manager.”
