Manager Uwe Rosler believes Brentford are only two or three players away from being one of League One’s top clubs.
Rosler’s side dominated for large spells against Sheffield Wednesday, who won 2-1 at Griffin Park courtesy of former Bees loanee Miguel Llera’s second-half header.
But Rosler is adamant Brentford’s performance proved they have laid the foundations for next season.
“I am so proud of the way my players played,” he said. “From front to back we played well and created great chances.
“With one or two additions next season we will be in a position to finish these sorts of games off.”
Rosler added: “I think the fans can see we are heading in the right direction. We are in a better position than last year, with more points.
“We have laid the foundations and have gained huge experience this season from games like today.
“We will improve the top of the pyramid and bring in two or three players who will make the difference.”
