Brentford manager Uwe Rosler has insisted that David Button was the only goalkeeper the club targeted to replace Simon Moore.
Button was signed on two-year deal from Charlton ahead of an immediate debut in the pre-season win against Cardiff City on Tuesday.
There were reports that the Bees had sought other options in the wake of Moore’s transfer to Cardiff, with Swindon’s Wes Foderingham linked with a move.
But Rosler said: “Whatever other clubs and newspapers are saying around their club’s assets is definitely a lie.
“David is the only person we spoke to and it all went through very quickly.
“It is very strange that some clubs are using Brentford for the wrong reasons – trying to create the momentum around their players.
“We never made any other enquiry, or spoke to, or bid for, or made financial suggestions, for any other goalkeeper.”
