Brentford boss Uwe Rosler has told his players to “fight like lions” in Saturday’s play-off showdown with Swindon.
Having missed out on automatic promotion with last weekend’s late drama against Doncaster, Rosler has had the task of trying to raise the team’s spirits ahead of their second chance to grab a place in the Championship.
And, speaking ahead of the first-leg clash at the County Ground, he has called on players and fans alike to believe they can still go up.
He declared: “I want to see our supporters have not given up. They expect us to be fully motivated, to go out and fight like lions.
“The supporters also have a role to play for us to win promotion. When it gets difficult the players hear the supporters.”
Brentford players held a clear-the-air meeting on Monday – 48 hours after Marcello Trotta’s last-gasp penalty miss meant they missed out on the top two.
Trotta, on loan from Fulham, hit the bar after insisting he took the kick rather than club captain Kevin O’Connor.
“There are no issues in the group,” Rosler insisted.
“We needed to come together, address certain things so we don’t carry them with us.”
