Reeves scores but Bees are denied win

A late goal denied Brentford a winning start to their pre-season visit to Germany, where Jake Reeves’ strike put them ahead.

The young midfielder rode two challenges before firing into the net just after the half-hour mark.

It was a deserved breakthrough for the Bees, who earlier had thought they had gone ahead with a header from trialist Joe Tsoumou but the effort was ruled out for offside.

Jonathan Douglas went close to doubling the lead in the second half before Carsten Weis’ equaliser rescued a draw for the hosts.

Uwe Rosler’s side are next in action on Tuesday, when they face Erzgebirge Aue.
