Reeves hoping to keep Brentford place
Brentford youngster Jake Reeves hopes his fine performance against Scunthorpe on Saturday will boost his chances of securing a regular place.
The 19-year-old midfielder says he was surprised to be handed a first league start of the season.
“It’s been a long time since my last start but I’m really happy,” he told West London Sport.
“I was very surprised, to be honest, because I haven’t featured much but I’ll take it when it comes and hopefully I did enough to stay in the team for Tuesday.
“I thought I did well and I definitely want more starts.”
The Bees have an important away fixture with Stevenage on Tuesday night knowing a win could put them within a point of the top of League One.
And Reeves admits the players are feeling some pressure.
He said: “We are under pressure a bit at the moment, especially in front of our own fans.
“We are expected to win games and to score at the start of every game and put the pressure on the away team.
“But it’s good pressure to have – it’s much better than fighting relegation. The boys are loving it at the moment and doing really well.”
