Former Brentford and QPR midfielder Marcus Bean has signed for Colchester United.
The U’s, who finished a place below Brentford in 10th last season, have handed Bean a three-year deal.
Bean was deemed surplus to requirements by Bees boss Uwe Rosler and released at the end of the last campaign.
He played 168 times during a four-year stay at Griffin Park and is Colchester’s first new signing of the summer.
Bean, 27, had an unhappy two-year spell at Blackpool prior to joining Brentford and recently told West London Sport he was therefore keen to remain in the south.
