Lewis MacLeod got 90 minutes under his belt but Brentford Under-21s were beaten 2-1 by Charlton in the Premier League Cup.
Former Glasgow Rangers midfielder MacLeod has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Bees since joining last January, after a string of injuries, but continued his comeback against the Addicks.
Charlton keeper Dimitar Mitov saved early on from Courtney Senior, who was forced off after just 25 minutes.
MacLeod put a volley just wide but the Bees finally made the breakthrough on the hour when Mitov brought down Jan Holldack and the German converted the penalty.
The lead lasted only eight minutes as Charlton levelled through Mikhail Kennedy and they went 2-1 up with a fine 25-yard finish from Cristian Ceballos.
MacLeod and Holldack both went close to a late equaliser but it is Charlton who moved into the quarter-finals.
