Logan faces fight to reclaim Bees place

Brentford manager Uwe Rosler says Alan McCormack will now provide Shaleum Logan with stiff competition for a place at right-back.

McCormack, who joined the Bees from Swindon in the summer, was switched from midfield to the back four against Colchester on Saturday, with Logan missing out.

“His [McCormack’s] versatility is why we signed him,” said Rosler.

“We have a player with experience, still in the best years of his career and can play in different positions.

“What I was looking for from McCormack [playing at right back] was more ball possession. We need the back four to get more on the ball because in the past we went too long.

“He got on the ball more. In the first half he needed time to settle in as he had not played there for a while, but in the second half he was excellent.

“This doesn’t mean Shaleum is out of favour or that he needed a break. But Shaleum will see competition from McCormack and Rafael Calvet, and I think it will only make us better.”
