Julian Jeanvier scored his first Championship goal as Brentford drew with the high-flying Canaries to extend their unbeaten run to four games.
The Frenchman nodded in Said Benrahma’s corner midway through the first half and then put in a spirited display at the heart of the Bees’ defence – which was only breached seven minutes from time when Timm Klose headed Norwich level.
Norwich began brightly without creating many clear opportunities, although Mario Vrancic poked a shot wide and top scorer Teemu Pukki was denied by a crunching challenge from Yoann Barbet.
At the other end, Neal Maupay thumped a good chance wide of the target but, just a few minutes later, Jeanvier rose to power Benrahma’s cross beyond Tim Krul and put the Bees in front.
Krul prevented the home side from extending their lead in the second half, flinging out his left hand to palm away Benrahma’s deflected volley, but it was Brentford who had to dig deep as the game progressed.
Dan Bentley came off his line to block a Max Aarons drive, while Vrancic’s 30-yarder clipped the post with the keeper at full stretch – and the pressure finally told in the 83rd minute when Klose scrambled a header across the line.
Both sides had opportunities to convert one point into three, with Norwich substitutes Tom Trybull and Jordan Rhodes both going close and Maupay forcing another impressive stop from Krul.
