‘Justice was done’ declares Bees striker
Brentford striker Clayton Donaldson believes justice was served by his team’s FA Cup victory over Bradford.
Tuesday’s second-round replay took place after City were granted a reprieve for fielding an illegible player in the original fixture – a 1-1 draw at Valley Parade on 30 November.
The Bantams had been thrown out of the competition but were reinstated after a successful appeal and paid a £1000 fine instead.
But Brentford won at Griffin Park to set up a third-round clash with Southend, and Donaldson, who was born in Bradford, told West London Sport: “I think justice was done.
“Everyone was surprised they were reinstated. I don’t know how they got a reprieve back into the second round – it was a bit bizarre.
“But we still had a job to do and we are glad it’s done and dusted.”
Donaldson added: “We’ve had so many games recently and it is causing some strain – that’s why we rested so many key players.
“But we’ve got a good squad and we knew whoever came in would be able to do the job and they did.”

How bizarre that Clayton should think this, he obviously hasn’t checked into this properly. The Bantams appeal was valid as the punishment for a clerical error was OTT, it rightly means every one of these situations in future will be judged on it’s merits rather than a “black & white” decision. The Bantams only had 2 players starting last night who played against Arsenal which shows what a good squad we have as a lot of Brentford fans were suffering from “squeaky bum” syndrome in the first half of extra time. Credit to the Bees, they showed why they are at the top of League 1, saying that I don’t think there’s a lot to choose between the teams.

Brentford didnt rest as many as bradford did, in fact bradford played 9 reserves and apprentices and still gave a good account.
