Injured Norgaard ruled out of England game
Brentford’s Christian Norgaard will miss Denmark’s match against England after suffering an ankle injury in the defeat by Preston.
Norgaard hobbled off in the 20th minute after falling awkwardly and Bees boss Thomas Frank confirmed: “Yes he’s out of the Denmark squad.”
It’s a blow for the midfielder, who made his full international debut against Gareth Southgate’s side last month.
Frank refused to blame the loss of Norgaard for the defeat.
“He is one of our best players, but if you want to win a lot of matches, you need to manage to play without one of your best players sometimes. He is just one out of 11 and the rest need to show a little personality,” he said.
Frank added that he doesn’t expect a repeat, declaring: “I’m 100% sure it’s going to be a one-off.
“We weren’t complacent, but you could see in the first half that we lost the ball too easily sometimes.”
The last team to score four against Brentford in the Championship was also Preston, in a 4-3 defeat two years ago this month.
But Frank promised: “We will never concede four goals again in the Championship this season.
“Our cup run has been amazing and I’m overall pleased with our other performances in the league this season, so I’m sure this is a one-off.”
