Aldershot 1 Brentford 2
Brentford maintained their encouraging form by coming from behind to win at the Recreation Ground.
Gary Alexander’s penalty and Charlie MacDonald’s easy finish – his sixth goal of this pre-season campaign – means the Bees are still unbeaten under new manager Uwe Rosler.
Teenager Jake Reeves featured again in Brentford’s midfield, while Marcel Eger was a given a starting place.
German Eger is being eased to full fitness following his recent move to Griffin Park, and the former Hamburg defender played the first half.
There was also an appearance by trialist Christopher Aurier, who combined with Sam Saunders to set up MacDonald for the winner.
Michael Rankine put Aldershot ahead with a 32nd-minute penalty after Jake Taylor had rounded goalkeeper Richard Lee and then been fouled by Shalem Logan.
But six minutes later Brentford were awarded a spot-kick of their own after Anthony Pulis’ handball, and Alexander made no mistake from 12 yards.
Lee produced a fine save to keep out Danny Hylton’s header from Jamie Collins’ free-kick, before MacDonald came up with the winner – just as he recently did against Stoke.
MacDonald’s first effort was well saved by goalkeeper Jamie Young, but the striker was then left with the simple task of slotting home the rebound.
