Happy Rosler hails Brentford’s desire
Brentford boss Uwe Rosler said his side fully deserved the dramatic victory that lifted them up to second in the table.
Sam Saunders’ injury-time penalty gave the Bees a 1-0 win at home to Preston and put them into the automatic promotion places.
And Rosler declared: “The high tempo was absolutely the key. I said to the boys to give everything they have and make sure they really compete.
“I told the back four to squeeze up quickly and the strikers to be first, and I couldn’t have asked for anything more.
“Of course when you score in extra time Lady Luck plays a part, but we worked for that luck.
“When you do that and play with such a tempo and desire, most of the time you get what you deserve – and we deserved to win today.”
Brentford dominated the game but looked likely to have to settle for a point before Saunders was tripped in the area and then slammed home the resulting spot-kick.
“It was a clear penalty. I don’t think there could be any doubt about,” said Rosler.
