French central defender Julian Jeanvier has completed a £1.8m move to Brentford.
The 26-year-old, who has been signed from Reims, has agreed a four-year contract at Griffin Park with the option of a further year.
The Bees had been looking to add to their defensive options since the sale of John Egan to Sheffield United.
They were in talks with Olympiacos about Belgian defender Bjorn Engels but could not reach an agreement so turned their attention to Jeanvier.
Jeanvier had been with Ligue 1 club Reims since 2016. He was previously at Lille and Nancy and has also had spells on loan at French club Red Star and Belgian side Mouscron.

The Bees have an excellent back four and Jeanvier will add more experience and help Henry and Mepham who are also top quality but need more experience, with only Barbet and Dalsgaard with more than a years experience in the championship although Clark is available as cover when needed. Brentford do have other young B side players coming through so things are looking rosy. Bjelland where are you?
