Frank relieved after vital Brentford win
Thomas Frank was relieved after Brentford’s 2-0 victory at home to Sheffield United took them a step closer to Premier League safety.
An own goal from Oliver Arblaster and a stoppage-time strike from substitute Frank Onyeka secured the Bees’ first win in 10 games.
Boss Frank said: “I said to the players ‘Please don’t do that to me or yourselves again!’ No wins in nine, this rough spell and this season is a reminder that this league is brutal, relentless and the toughest league in the world.”
The result lifted Brentford seven points clear of the relegation zone.
“It was a good win, good performance but not through the roof,” said Frank.
“It was a deserved win, with maybe some luck with the first goal. I feel we were due a bit of luck.
“Offensively we didn’t hit it, but I still think it was a deserved win.”
Ivan Toney was an unused substitute but the Bees striker is expected to return for the vital game against fellow strugglers Luton.
Frank explained: “Ivan Toney was ill during the week and I’m told his hip muscle injury is still not perfect. Now we have the time to get him ready for Luton and I’m convinced he will be.
“It’s perfect I didn’t have to use him today.”
