Eriksen talks are ‘ongoing’ – Frank
Brentford boss Thomas Frank says discussions over Christian Eriksen’s future are “ongoing”.
The midfielder’s current deal with the Bees runs until the end of the season, having joined on a short-term basis in the January transfer window.
Frank has made no secret of his desire to keep the 30-year-old at the club beyond the summer and says talks over his future are taking place.
“I think it is no secret that we have that ongoing talk with him,” he said.
“He is in a good place, he’s enjoying his football, he is enjoying his life 100% here at Brentford. He will take the decision at the end of the season.”
Eriksen has impressed since his return to professional football after suffering a cardiac arrest at last summer’s European Championships and he scored in the win over Chelsea earlier this year.
He also assisted Pontus Jansson’s winner in the victory over Watford last month, as well as one of Ivan Toney’s two goals in the win over Burnley in March.
But the Bees are set to face stiff competition for his signature when his current deal expires, with a number of other clubs interested in him.
Frank also addressed recent reports linking Sergi Canos with a move to Barcelona.
“It came as a little bit of a surprise to me,” he said.
“I think Sergi is a brilliant player, we all know he’s got a past there.
“What is a rumour or what is a little bit of truth in it, honestly I don’t know.
“I guess if there’s more into it, Phil (Giles, director of football) will knock on my door and tell me.”
