Thomas Frank refused to criticise his players after Brentford missed out on a place in the FA Cup quarter-finals.
The Bees lost 4-1 at Swansea, where they led at the interval through Ollie Watkins’ goal after a dominant first-half display.
Daniel James scored a superb goal for the Welsh side, who were also helped by the sending-off of Enzri Konsa just after the hour mark.
“I can’t blame the boys too much. I think we made some individual mistakes that were punished unbelievably for the goals,” Frank said.
“In the first half we were very good and continued the good form we have shown in our long run of wins. We carried that in to the first half, when I think we were by far the better side.
“We were dominant, in control, comfortable leading 1-0 and could maybe on another day be 2-0 up.
“We tried to regroup at 2-1 down. Maybe we could have stayed in the game and turned it around, but Swansea were too strong.”
