Injury-hit Brentford will be ‘calm and sensible’ – Frank
Thomas Frank has pledged that Brentford will remain “calm and sensible” when the transfer window reopens next month.
Bryan Mbeumo being ruled out for three months is the latest injury blow suffered by the Bees, who have been without a number of key players.
It means they are likely to seek to add to the squad in the coming weeks – but head coach Frank insists they will not abandon the transfer policy which has served the club so well.
“The long-term ones (injuries) are of course irritating,” he said.
“Throughout the season, almost from game one, we’ve struggled a bit with some injuries and then that list started to grow.
“We’ve managed quite well and I’m convinced we will manage quite well still. It’s a good group of players who are willing to fight.
“Of course we need to look into it in January. But we are never rushing into things and we try to be clever and try to take calm and sensible decisions – and we will do the same in January.”
A loan signing is also an option while Brentford wait for their injury problems to ease.
Frank explained: “We will not (usually) take a player if we don’t think it’s for the longer term. But, maybe, this time there may be a loan. But it depends how things go in the next three or four weeks.”
