Dasilva back in Bees squad for Watford game
Thomas Frank will welcome Josh Dasilva back into his squad for the trip to Watford.
The midfielder missed the victories over Chelsea and West Ham with a hamstring injury, which came immediately after he had served a three-game suspension for being sent off against Newcastle.
But boss Frank confirmed that the 23-year-old would be involved on Saturday, though conceded that he is a long way off peak fitness.
“Josh will be involved in the squad so that’s very positive,” Frank said.
“I’m very pleased for him. Hopefully, fingers crossed, he can stay fit and avoid strange red cards and so on so we can see more of him. That’s what we hope for.
“If we had a fit Josh Dasilva, my take on it is that he would have been one of our best performing players this season. So I think it’s a big player coming back for us.
“Of course he’s nowhere near top fitness because we need to ease him in to it and that will probably still take a couple of weeks before he really regains rhythm.”
Dasilva has played just four Premier League games for the Bees this season, having missed most of the season with a hip injury.
Brentford will also welcome back captain Pontus Jansson, who missed the win over West Ham due to illness, but Frank Onyeka is still out with a foot injury.
Frank hopes Onyeka will be able to return before the end of the season, however.
“He’s better, but he’s still in a boot but that’s because it needs to heal,” Frank explained.
