Brentford were pegged back by a late equaliser as they had to settle for a 1-1 draw at Wycombe in their latest pre-season friendly.
Just hours after David Button’s departure to Fulham was confirmed, Jack Bonham pressed his claims for the number one jersey by making a superb early save to keep out Garry Thompson’s header.
Both defences worked hard to keep the game goalless, with Brentford’s Andreas Bjelland twice getting good blocks in in the first half.
At the other end, Lasse Vibe (pictured) forced a save from Wycombe’s trialist goalkeeper – but five minutes before the break, they took the lead.
They recycled the ball after a corner and Ryan Woods’ cross found summer signing John Egan at the back post, and he finished smartly.
Lewis MacLeod, who replaced the injured Josh McEachran on 35 minutes, hit the post just after half-time while Philipp Hofmann put his header the wrong side of the upright.
Wycombe made the Bees pay 15 minutes from time, as Dayle Southwell stooped to head past Bonham after a shot came back off the post.
