Brentford defender John Egan has signed a new three-and-a-half-year contract.
The centre-back joined the Bees last summer from Gillingham and has played 30 times this season in all competitions, scoring three goals.
The new deal adds an extra year to the Irishman’s stay at Griffin Park.
He missed Tuesday night’s win over Aston Villa after having 21 stitches in his ear but is expected to be fit for Sunday’s game with Brighton.
Brentford boss Dean Smith told the club’s website: “John has settled really well and it hasn’t gone unnoticed by all our coaching staff that his peers recognize him as one of the best trainers at the club.
“This drive and enthusiasm is enabling him to better himself in the Championship and push others around him to collectively realise their potential.”
