Goal will boost Hofmann, says Brentford boss
Brentford boss Lee Carsley reserved praise for Philipp Hofmann after the striker came off the bench to score the second goal in the 2-0 win at Wolves.
Marco Djuricin put the Bees in front in the first half and a resolute defensive display kept the hosts at bay, before Hofmann rounded keeper Damian Martinez to wrap up the points.
It was only his second goal in eight appearances since joining from Kaiserslautern in the summer, and Carsley believes it will boost the German’s morale.
He said: “It was pleasing for him, because it’s obviously been a bit stop-start for him since he’s come to the club.
“Taking into consideration the different language, the different style of football, the different environment that he’s working in, that’ll do his confidence the world of good.”
Carsley was also pleased with the way his side showed both sides of their game, largely dominating the first half before soaking up Wolves attacks in the second once the home side had made a double change.
He added: “The subs they brought on are good players, so you’d expect them to have an impact.
“But we were confident, with the way we were playing, that if we stayed in the game we potentially could get a counter-attack on.”
