Brentford have signed former QPR and Middlesbrough midfielder Emmanuel Ledesma on a non-contract basis.

The 28-year-old has been training with the Bees in pre-season and featured in friendlies against Kaiserslautern and Peterborough, while scoring for Brentford B against a Chelsea XI.

Argentinean Ledesma played under Brentford head coach Dean Smith at Walsall in 2011 and 2012, and ended last season at Rotherham United.

He first came to England in 2008, when QPR signed him on loan from Italian club Genoa.

Ledesma made 19 appearances for Rangers, scoring a hat-trick against Carlisle in the second round of the League Cup.

After his two spells at Walsall, he joined Middlesbrough in the summer of 2012, playing 64 matches and scoring nine goals.

Smith told Brentford’s official website: “For Emmanuel to get back to fitness he needs to play games.

“It will be a good thing for him to remain with us and then we will make a decision before the window closes.”
