Brentford head coach Marinus Dijkhuizen said his team deserved to beat Leeds having been “by far the better side” in the 1-1 draw.
New signing Marco Djuricin opened the scoring half an hour into his debut but the Bees had to settle for point when Mirco Antenucci levelled 14 minutes from time.
Dijkhuizen said he was happy with the standard of football his side played, but was frustrated they did not win the game.
He said: “I am very disappointed because we were by far the better side.
“In the first half, we could have been up 2-0 or 3-0. After the break we had a little bit more of the long balls but still we got a couple of big chances, so I think we deserved to win.
“Marco Djuricin makes the first goal, a very good goal. He also did some good running, made some good touches and created a lot of confusion with the opposition.
“He had a big chance to kill the game, after an hour, the ball against the post – that was the big chance.
“But then in the last 10 minutes we were maybe lucky to draw because we could have lost it. That’s typical of the Championship.”
Dijkhuizen defended another debutant, Ryan Woods, who was guilty of losing the ball in the build up to Leeds’ equaliser.
He said: “Ryan took a little bit too much time [on the ball], so it’s a big lesson for him.
“He’s come from a lower level. He can play good football, he just has to get used to the level.”
