Donaldson goes as Brentford sign Tebar
Brentford have signed former Real Madrid midfielder Marcos Tebar but have lost last season’s top scorer Clayton Donaldson, who has completed his move to Birmingham.
The out-of-contract Donaldson, 30, netted 18 goals for the Bees as they won promotion to the Championship last term.
But they were unable to agree a new deal with him and he has signed a two-year contract at St Andrews, ending a three-year spell at Brentford during which he scored 46 goals in 136 league appearances.
Birmingham made him an offer earlier this month and confirmed the signing on Wednesday morning.
Tebar, meanwhile, was also a free agent and available on a free transfer, having left Spanish top-flight side Almeria earlier this month. He has signed a two-year contract at Griffin Park with the option of a third year.
A former Spain Under-16 and Under-17 international, Tebar featured 25 times in La Liga last season and was previously at Real, where he made a first-team appearance while Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho was in charge at the Bernabéu.
Tebar is Brentford’s second acquisition of the summer following the permanent signing of Alan Judge from Blackburn.
