Dismal Bees defending punished in defeat at Swansea

Brentford were well beaten at the Liberty Stadium, where their dismal defending enabled Lloyd Dyer to help himself to his first league goals for Swansea since August 2014.

Daniel James’ late strike sealed a resounding win for the Welsh side on a miserable night for the Bees.

Brentford made a disastrous start, falling behind after just 31 seconds after an horrendous error by Mads Bech Sørensen.

Dyer collected the loose ball to score after Bees keeper Luke Daniels had clattered into James, who had pounced on Sørensen’s woefully underhit back-pass.

The outstanding James hit the bar with a curling effort from near the edge of the penalty area before Dyer doubled Swansea’s lead 11 minutes before half-time.

Again Brentford’s defending was appalling, allowing Dyer to race on to Kristoffer Nordfeldt ball over the top and score.

And as Swansea totally dominated, they hit the woodwork again before the interval, this time when Bersant Celina’s free-kick struck the bar.

Brentford were better in the second half but fell further behind with 11 minutes remaining – after the woodwork had been rattled for the third time.

James controlled the rebound and fired past Daniels after Connor Roberts’ shot had come back off the post.
