Brentford manager Uwe Rosler insists next weekend’s FA Cup clash with Chelsea has not distracted his players from their promotion challenge.
After a high-octane third-round replay victory over Southend, the Bees were firmly beaten at home by League One leaders Tranmere.
But Rosler said: “I don’t see it [the Chelsea game] being a problem, because they [Brentford’s players] have me as a manager.
“We put a lot into the game on Tuesday night. We had to go all the way to win and play at a high tempo throughout.
“But that was not why we lost today. The main issue was that Tranmere did their homework on us, they denied us our passing game and they are very solid defensively – you can see why they are a top side.”
Rosler added: “We had some scary moments in the first half and we lost our confidence on the ball but I am pleased with the second-half performance.
“We could have felt sorry for ourselves but we were the better side in the second half. We can’t be on the winning side all the time.”
