Lee Carsley praised on-loan duo Sergi Canos and John Swift after they made their first starts for Brentford in the 2-1 win at home to Rotherham.
The outstanding Alan Judge scored both the Bees’ goals as they clinched their first victory since Carsley was installed as head coach.
Carsley praised the Irishman and was also impressed with the two youngsters.
He said: “Sergi has come from Liverpool and John from Chelsea and they have very good energy and I felt we needed that lift. They’ve done well in training and deserved to start.
“You can see that Sergi needs games fitness-wise, but I’m really pleased for both of them. Chelsea have got a lot of faith in John.”
Joe Mattock equalised for Rotherham in the opening minute of the second half but Brentford hit back, with Judge heading home Jake Bidwell’s left-wing cross.
“I’m pleased for the players. We worked hard, the shape was good and we got the win we deserved,” Carsley said.
“We got a fantastic start. We had spoken out coming out of the traps and setting a high tempo quickly.
“Rotherham got the equaliser but it was a great reaction from our players. They showed a lot of resilience.”
