Blow for Bees as Thiago faces lengthy spell out
Brentford new signing Igor Thiago has been ruled out until the end of the year with a knee injury.
The striker arrived in west London last month, having been signed from Club Bruge for a club-record fee of £30m.
He scored twice on his Bees debut, against AFC Wimbledon, but picked up a meniscus injury and faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after undergoing an operation.
Brentford said the surgery was “successful” and that 23-year-old would “begin a period of recovery and rehabilitation and is expected to return towards the end of the year”.
Thiago was widely regarded as a replacement for Ivan Toney, with the England international expected to move this summer.
