Brentford’s Henry steps up recovery from injury
Rico Henry has stepped up his recovery from a long-term injury by returning to light training.
The Brentford left-back has been out since September with a knee injury, having previously struggled with a shoulder injury and another knee problem since arriving from Walsall in 2016.
But the 21-year-old has begun working with the rest of the squad, and boss Dean Smith says Henry is “not far behind” the rest of his team-mates in terms of his fitness.
The versatile Nico Yennaris has impressed at left-back in pre-season and the Bees are not considering bringing in further cover, with Tom Field and Yoann Barbet also available.
Moses Odubajo, who has been training with his former club and could be re-signed by Brentford if he proves his fitness, is primarily a right-sided player but could also potentially fill in at left-back.
Smith said: “It was nice to get Rico back on the training ground with us. It was only for the warm-up but he won’t be far behind now.
“Nico is an option. We have young Tom Field and Yoann Barbet played a lot of the season there last season.
“We’re looking to get Moses Odubajo fit as well, who has featured a couple of times during pre-season for us too.”
