Brentford youngsters beaten by Leeds in FA Youth Cup

Brentford’s Under-18s went out of the FA Youth Cup after a 3-2 defeat to Leeds United at Griffin Park on Tuesday.

The Bees began brightly but it was the visitors who took the lead on 20 minutes when Mallik Wilks’ shot took a deflection and beat keeper Cameron Greaves.

Brentford responded with an equaliser six minutes after half-time, Kyjuon Marsh-Brown creating space on the edge of the box before firing home.

Leeds restored their lead with another slightly fortunate goal, as Henry Rollinson’s effort slipped through the grasp of Greaves.

On 77 minutes, Brentford levelled again. Reece Cole delivered a corner and Zach Birse brought it down before drilling in a firm shot.

However, Leeds went straight up the other end and made it 3-2 with Tyla Bell converting from Matty Downing’s cross.

They will face either Portsmouth or Manchester City in the fourth round.
