Yoann Barbet headed home an injury-time equaliser to rescue a point for 10-man Brentford after errors by Dan Bentley looked like gifting victory to Reading.
Neal Maupay gave Brentford an 11th-minute lead with a right-footed finish from Said Benrahma’s cross.
But Reading equalised midway through the first half when Jon Dadi Bodvarsson pounced to score after keeper Bentley had spilled a shot from former Bees loanee John Swift.
And worse followed for the hone side when Reading were gifted the lead on 64 minutes.
Bentley inexplicably fumbled Swift’s free-kick, allowing the ball to drop over the line.
Brentford’s task became even harder when Benrahma was sent off for a second yellow card four minutes from time.
But they battled on and were rewarded when Chris Mepham got his head to a corner and Barbet nodded in at the far post.
