Brentford v Preston player ratings
Brentford came from behind to beat Preston having fallen behind after just 32 seconds. Here’s how we rated the Bees players at Griffin Park.
David Button: 7
A tad unfortunate with the goal as he reacted quicker than his defence to block from Stevie May only for the ball to fall to Daniel Johnson. Made a very good save in first half and was largely untroubled after the break.
Josh Clarke: 7
Barely had time to settle into his first start for the Bees before he was outpaced in the build up to the Preston goal. Looked a little hesitant at first, but improved as the game went on, before making way for Sergi Canos on the hour mark.
Harlee Dean: 8
A strong display throughout against Joe Garner, who is always a handful, and the unconventional May. Came into his own in the lengthy period of injury time when he marshalled the defence superbly to see the game out.
Yoann Barbet: 8
Barring one early slip, it was an excellent performance from the Frenchman stepping in for the injured James Tarkowski. Unlucky not to score as he was denied by an incredible save from Jordan Pickford.
Jake Bidwell: 7
The skipper was also solid, and sent in some good crosses, while also setting up the winner by flicking a high ball into the path of Djuricin.
Toumani Diagouraga: 6
Nowhere near as influential as he often is, he was bypassed too easily in Preston’s early dominance and struggled to impose himself on the ball.
Alan McCormack: 7
Put himself about in midfield against the club where he started his career, and was involved in the move for the equaliser. Booked in the first half but boss Marinus Dijkhuizen insisted he never had any intention of taking him off to spare him.
Alan Judge: 8
A typically tireless display and created chances that weren’t taken. Also went close to scoring with a free-kick.
Konstantin Kerschbaumer: 6
Drifted in and out of the game, although he had two efforts on goal saved in the first half.
Lasse Vibe: 7
Worked hard out wide in the first half but came into his own when pushed through the middle on the hour mark, and immediately got a goal thanks to Canos’ creativity.
Marco Djuricin: 7
Linked up well with those around him and produced a spectacular turn and finish for the winning goal. A good home debut and two goals in three games for the on-loan Red Bull Salzburg striker.
Sergi Canos: 7
An immediate impact by the Liverpool loanee, who barely broke stride between coming on the field and setting up the equalising goal. Showed quick feet and an even quicker brain in a fine 30-minute cameo.
