Brentford hit back to beat Colchester

Brentford 3 Colchester 1

Substitute Kadeem Harris scored on his debut and George Saville bagged his first goal for the club as Brentford came from behind to seal a first home win since August.

The Bees’ poor run of form had looked set to continue when defender Magnus Okuonghae headed Colchester into the lead three minutes into the second half.

But a trio of loan signings scored three late goals in 11 minutes – the first through Fulham striker Marcello Trotta, who tapped home a deflected effort with 15 minutes left.

Chelsea youngster Saville then curled a sublime effort in off the post from distance to put Brentford ahead before Cardiff winger Harris headed home a Clayton Donaldson cross.

Manager Uwe Rosler freshened up the team following a disappointing defeat away to Stevenage last week – their second successive loss in the league.

Shaleum Logan was dropped, Alan McCormack switched to right-back and Will Grigg was back from international duty.

The Bees had an early penalty shout waved away when Harlee Dean’s shot hit the arm of Brian Wilson, before an amazing miss by Trotta caused astonishment around the ground.

Saville broke into the area and his low shot was parried to Trotta’s feet only for him to slice the ball wide of an open goal from three yards out.

Brentford were punished for their missed chances when Okuonghae shrugged off his marker and headed Alex Gilbey’s corner beyond David Button just after the break.

But Trotta latched on to Donaldson’s cross before Saville steared in and Harris sealed the win.

Brentford (4-3-3):Button; McCormack, Dean, Craig, Bidwell; Forshaw (Saunders 65), Douglas, Saville; Donaldson, Trotta (El Alagui 82), Grigg Harris (65)
