Brentford appear to have failed with an attempt to land former Tottenham striker Steffen Iversen.
The Norway international, 35, is a free agent after recently leaving Crystal Palace and Bees boss Uwe Rosler was interested in taking him to Griffin Park.
Rosler, who spent six years as a manager in Norway, offered Iversen a trial and was keen for him to train with Brentford ahead of a possible move to west London.
But the player looks set to rejoin Rosenborg, the club where he started his career.
Iversen made his name in English football during a seven-year spell at Spurs in which he made almost 150 league appearances.
He left White Hart Lane in 2003 and spent a season at Wolves before heading back to Norway.
Following a second spell with Rosenborg, he returned to England to join Palace a year ago.
