Brentford to build new indoor facility
Permission has been granted for a new indoor sports facility at Uxbridge High School that will be used by Brentford’s academy.
The building – which will be paid for by the club with a contribution from the school – will have a fully enclosed 60×50-metre pitch with a Third Generation artificial surface.
It will also have six classrooms, two learning zones, changing rooms, a gym and a physio room and is expected to be ready to use by September next year.
“Everyone at Brentford is delighted that planning consent has been given and we are thankful to the planning department and councillors at Hillingdon Council for their support,” said Bees chief executive Mark Devlin.
“We have worked closely with Uxbridge High School to bring this plan to fruition and I thank them for all their hard work.
“I am sure there will be a long and mutually beneficial relationship between Brentford FC and Uxbridge High School.
“The development of our young players through our academy is a key part of the club’s future strategy, which has been agreed by the board.
“This will significantly help us to attract the best young players to Brentford.
“Not only do we have aspirations to play at a higher level and at a new stadium, but we want to see a core of future first-team squad members coming through our ranks.”
