Frank admits it was ‘game done’ after early Villa goals

Aston Villa 4 Brentford 0

Ollie Watkins scored against his former club as Brentford were thrashed at Villa Park.

Danny Ings scored twice and Leon Bailey also netted for Villa, who looked transformed following the recent sacking of manager Steven Gerrard and were three up within 14 minutes.

“It was 3-0 after 14 minutes and game done,” Bees boss Thomas Frank admitted.

“When you’re playing a team that has been struggling, there’s no reason to give them that extra boost.”

Bailey opened the scoring by sweeping the ball home after being found by Douglas Luiz’s pass.

Bailey’s cross then set up Ings, who got his second by scoring from the penalty spot after Tyrone Mings had been fouled by Kristoffer Ajer.

Bees keeper David Raya denied Matty Cash and Luiz before Watkins tapped in from close range.
