Alan Judge could return for Brentford this weekend following a knee injury.
The Dubliner has not featured since the FA Cup third-round defeat against Brighton on 3 January and is in contention to play at Charlton on Saturday.
New signing Lewis Macleod is also close to fitness but remains doubtful along with defender James Tarkowski – both will be assessed ahead of the game.
Manager Mark Warburton said: “Alan Judge trained on Thursday morning and he’s very near.
“He’s a very talented player and his level of consistency before the injury was outstanding.
“Lewis Macleod has also been out there working with the physio guys this week and he’s getting very close, but he’s a day or two behind Judgey. He’ll be assessed.
“James took a kick in the back on Tuesday and suffered the equivalent of a dead leg. Its not a muscle problem but it was very sore so we’ll see how he is too.”
Left-back Jake Bidwell is suspended following a red card during Tuesday’s defeat against Watford and Warburton has confirmed the club will not appeal.
“It’s too much of a grey area. In our minds it’s a yellow card but we won’t get anywhere by appealing that one,” he said.
“We’ve got lots of options who can fill in at left-back such as Tony Craig, Nico Yennaris and Alan McCormack, and Stuart Dallas did very well there the other night.”
