Brentford move for Spanish midfield duo
Brentford have completed the signings of highly-rated Spanish midfielders Jota and Jon Toral.
Jota, 23, has signed a three-year contract at Griffin Park after the Bees agreed an undisclosed fee with Celta Vigo.
Former Barcelona youth product Toral, 19, joins on a season-long loan from Arsenal.
Manager Mark Warburton described the signings as “exciting” for the club.
Jota had been with Celta since he was 13 but only played four league games for the club’s first team.
However, last season he enjoyed a productive loan spell at Eibar, scoring 11 goals in Spain’s second tier as his adopted side won promotion to La Liga.
Toral, meanwhile, was signed by Arsenal in the summer of 2011 when he was just 16 and has played for the Gunners at under-18, under-19 and under-21 level.
The teenager, who can play across midfield, scored six times in 20 under-21 appearances for Arsenal last season after returning from injury in November.
Warbuton said: “Jota is a very, very talented left-sided attacking midfield player.
“He offers us real technical craft, an attacking threat and excellent set-piece delivery.
“Jon has come through a couple of nasty injuries, it is great to see him fully fit and he can now start to show his undoubted potential.
“This is a sign of the relationship we have with Arsenal and our continuing desire to add quality to our playing squad.
“It is exciting for Brentford to attract players of this stature.”
Meanwhile, forward Montell Moore, 18, has signed a new three-year contract.
