Brentford reject second bid from Bournemouth for Mepham
Brentford rejected two approaches from Bournemouth on transfer deadline day for Chris Mepham.
West London Sport recently revealed that the Cherries were interested in the Hammersmith-born defender.
The two clubs held discussions on Wednesday and Bournemouth were first willing to pay around £5.5m for Mepham.
They then came in with a second offer, of £6.5m plus add-ons, but this too was turned down.
It is understood Bournemouth will not increase their bid any further.
The Premier League club watched Mepham play for the Bees’ B team and have continued to show an interest since his promotion to the senior side. Cherries boss Eddie Howe recently saw him in action at Griffin Park.
The Wales Under-21 international signed a new long-term contract in September.
He was on Chelsea’s books prior to joining Brentford at the age of 14.
