Brentford have confirmed midfielder Alan Judge broke his leg in the 3-1 win at Ipswich.
Judge needed nearly 10 minutes of treatment and had his right leg put in a brace before being taken off after just three minutes of the game at Portman Road.
The Republic of Ireland international was clearly in a lot of pain following a late challenge by Town’s Luke Hyam.
He was assessed locally before being transferred to a London hospital, where Brentford say he will be managed by “the leading lower limb consultant in the country”.
A club statement added: “The nature of his management and long-term prognosis cannot be speculated on at this time, however it should be stated that a full recovery is not in question.”
The injury is almost certain to end Judge’s hopes of playing for Ireland at Euro 2016.
