Former Sheffield United boss David Weir has joined Brentford as assistant manager.
He has replaced Alan Kernaghan, who has left Griffin Park along with first-team coach Peter Farrell. The pair are expected to join former Bees boss Uwe Rosler at Wigan.
Weir, 43, had spells at Everton and Glasgow Rangers during a playing career in which he won 69 Scotland caps.
He coached at Everton before landing the Sheffield United job in June, but left Bramall Lane after only three months at the helm.
Farrell arrived at Brentford in the summer of 2011 with Rosler, while Kernaghan was appointed as assistant manager in February last year.
Rosler’s recently-appointed successor Mark Warburton, previously the Bees’ sporting director, explained: “Whilst we have spoken about continuity, it is equally as essential that I put my own fingerprint on the squad and the coaching staff.
“I need to introduce people I have a close working relationship with to help take the club to the next level.”
