Jansson closing in on Brentford return
Brentford captain Pontus Jansson is closing in on a return to action, according to boss Thomas Frank.
The Swedish centre-back had ankle surgery in January and has not played since the 2-1 win at home to Bournemouth on 30 December.
But he is now back in full training and should soon be available for selection.
Frank said: “He is getting very much closer and it’s so good to see him training fully with the team again.
“Now it’s the final assessment of his fitness level. I would say that medical-wise, no problem – now just to get him up to top speed.
“It will be a day-to-day assessment. But he’s very much closer.”
Meanwhile, Christian Norgaard has continued to build up his fitness following his recent appearances as a substitute against Stoke and Norwich.
And Charlie Goode, who last played for Frank’s side two months ago, featured in a recent B-team match.
Frank explained: “Christian is very good. It was good to see him on the pitch against Norwich.
“Now we’ve had nine more days, so he’s getting very close to being a real asset for us. That’s promising.
“Charlie is better and is training regularly now. Hopefully he can also soon be involved again.”
